VST Filter change

Well I did the first VST filter change on both my F150s.
As Rodbolt has said all along it really is a simple job.
The first engine I took my time and went real slow and it took around 3 hrs.
The second one I did in a little over 2 hrs.
Wasn't really trying to break any record, just saying after you do it the first time you know what to expect and the ones after that go fast.
I took pics along the way and made a slideshow.
If I left out anything on the show or if you can think of something to add to it let me know. Just trying to help others who are hesitant to try this themselves.

What really sucks is going trough all that and finding a clean VST and screen. 'Axe' me why I know how that feels if you have any lingering doubts.

Biggest hassle is the stupid little spring clamps. I don't own the magic tool, so some of mine got mangled. Changed them all out with SS hose clamps.

My filter was in good shape as well. I reused it after cleaning.

- I don't do "mindless heavy metal crap" ...lol
- Yes both my filters were reasonably clean but since I was in there I went
back with new. Can't see doing all that and then cleaning an old filter but that
is just me. The filters aren't that expensive.
- Both engines have about 280 hrs each so not time for timing belts yet.

Yamaha Timing Belts - I started a thread awhile back to see if ANYONE knew of a belt that had broken. Without some outside influence such as crankshaft issues or incorrect installation. I don't think Rodbolt had any examples. Or anyone else for that matter. I think we all want to assume they are as prone to failure as our Honda but just doesn't seem to be the case.

I have yet to see a belt fail on a V Fourstroke.
Yamaha recommends 1000 hr OR 5 yrs whichever occurs FIRST.
