keep looking.
your going to find a 69J- number or a or another number that has 3 numbers a dash then 5 numers and a dash then 2 numbers.
I cant remember if the 4.2 uses the 3.3 or the V8 filter.
the denso number is not the Yamaha number.
That is the brand that he will get. Just under a Yamaha part number. Co-branded as a Yamaha filter.
I suspect that Yamaha and Denso have an agreement whereby the filter is not available to the public under the Denso part number.
Common throughout industry. Ford Motor Company makes lots of stuff for Yamaha. And vice versa. That stuff will oft times be sold by the one not doing the making. Yamaha sells Ford made stuff and Ford sells Yamaha made stuff. It can't be bought directly from the maker.
The Yamaha ten micron filter element at one time was made by Sierra. Probably still is. For Yamaha only. Sierra won't sell it under the Yamaha brand. Only Yamaha sells that particular Sierra made filter.

I assumed Sierra would make a lower cost version. The deal is whatever it is.

More than likely you are correct.
Quite possibly the two filters painted/branded differently are one and the same. Stands to reason that with the Yamaha brand the price will be higher. One more middle man in the loop and people will pay premium prices for what is believed to be a premium product.
