unless fluid has leaked out air has not leaked in.
are you sure it is the actual ram moving or just slack in the various monts and bushings?
I will warrenty that it has more torque backing down than slowing down.
best you can do,especially in the salt pond, is do not touch a fastener unless you have to then use water proof grease on the threads,
that trim unit is a sealed system.
no leaks then no air in or oil out.
