Spark Plugs question

I can say from experience, (as I used them in my 2007 Yamaha FZ6 motorcycle, 600cc, 95HP), iridium's DO NOT LAST longer than the stock plugs.
In fact, the gap opened (wore) quicker, (past spec's) than the stock, "dual ground" plugs (both styles are/were NGKs).
No noticeable difference at all.
Once these Iridiums wear out, stock NGKs are going back in.
IMO, stick with the OEM plugs.Scott

FWIW I change my car plugs every 40K. I find its just about the right mileage/time so they don't get frozen in the aluminum heads. With overhead cam engines the plugs are up above so its an easy job. Even if you go with Iridium plugs a V6 is less than $50.00 from flea bay. Trucks using push rod engines are still a PITA. If they have cast iron heads then I'd push it longer. I was curious if outboards were different but reading the thread it doesn't look like it.
I like the small spark area of Iridiums compared to platinums. The only issue I've read with Iridiums is the tip can break and cause issues. I've never seen it in the 15 years I've been using them.

they could be bumped and changed somewhere down the line

Just use a WIRE GAUGE and if adjustment is necessary, use the proper tool to adjust the ground, DO NOT lean on the electrode..Scott
