F225 Oil CHange Mess, Wrench @ Catch tray

I've got a pair of 2004 F225TXRC and can't find the oil filter CAP Wrench and the TRAY the fits under the oil filter to guide the oil into a jar when taking the filter off during the oil change process.
I called Boats.net and was told I need to tell them the parts #'s . Ugh!

I know Boats.net has it but what is the parts #'s ???? Help

as for the filter "cap"wrench, I have had bad luck with them slipping -

I would want to have it in my hands and try it against the filter before I bought it...

Another tip is to tilt the motor to the full up position. Then surround the oil filter with a gallon sized zip lock plastic bag. Unscrew the filter and let the filter and oil drop into the bag.

With respect to the filter cap, just take a filter with you to almost any auto parts store and buy the cap that will fit your particular filter.

I think that I'll just take a sharp razor knife to a quart bleach bottle and save myself the 17 bucks.

Slice it lengthwise from top to bottom. From the looks of the video, a section about three to four inches wide ought to do it. And if you include just enough of the curve (at the bottom of the bottle) it might just "jam" up in there just right and you wouldn't need to hold it as you tilted the engine up.

Maybe I can sell em for ten bucks a pop?


WRT the oil filter cap wrench (socket?) the damn filters were SO tight on my engines, that I actually broke the tool. The center of the cap wrench was a small disc with a nice 3/8" square hole for the ratchet wrench. As I got Cro-Mag trying loosen the filter, the awesome made in China spot welds on the disc let go and my wrench was immediately a useless piece of stamped metal. I was teetering on full flip-out mode thinking what nightmare I was going to be faced with getting those sumbitches off. I retreated to Advance and the guy had an articulating "super wrench" that I ended up buying. As you increase the torque on the filter, the jaws of this thing tighten and that filter is coming off. Terrific tool.

Another stupid trick....I once changed the oil on lady-friends car and didn't have filter wrench (cap, the hat type) which fit it. I took an old chamois and positioned it over the filter then jammed a slightly too large filter wrench over it and used that. Presto.

I can say with certainty that it will run out as fast as it can be added.
