  • 2005 Yamaha F115 Leaking fuel after fuel tank pressurized in sun!!!

I have a 2005 F115 that has started leaking at the filter / water separator on back of the engine. I went on vacation and my 6 gallon test tank pressurized in the sun while it was still hooked up to the engine. I got home and noticed fuel leaking from the rear filter thread area. Now when I prime the bulb I get fuel seepage from the same area. has anyone seen this before? The tank was supposed to be a self venting but needless to say it didnt work.

A lot of the new portable tanks do not let gas fumes out into the atmosphere when pressured up.
the will suck air in tho if a vacuum is formed.

repair the leak and move on

Do you think its just the oring that got damaged or do housings usually crack? I couldn't tell of any damage visually. Worst case I will replace the entire unit I guess.

need to take apart and see what you find.
if running ethanol the housings react to it sometimes

Even on the new "ventless" tanks always a good idea to slightly crack open that filler cap so when sun hits tank it can relieve some pressure.....if the guy from the EPA calls I'll claim I never said it!
