1991 Yamaha 150 ProV want shut off

I have a 1991 Yamaha 150 Prov that want shut off with the switch on kill switch. It only does it every once in a while. I have the Yamaha 703 shifter box with a separate switch for the choke. Any ideas what might be the problem?

bad ground connection on wires to key and kill switch.
could be on either end of cable or in the middle of it

I am now thinking it is the CDI Unit. I checked the solid white wire going into the cdi unit and when i cut the switch off there was no power on that wire, but the engine kept running. Any Thoughts?

take thar white wire off and use a jumper wire to ground that place on the cdi to see if that kills the motor
