Will the rod eye or yoke screw off the end of the shaft ?

Never heard of one being unscrewable. Not at that end anyway.

    Why?

It does make me wonder why they are not threaded on. Most of the force is pushing not pulling.

Now when it gets very slow again, perhaps I will bring up the issue that there really is no such thing as "pulling".

          Mechanically speaking? Or in general?

I believe he is trying to reseal the T&T unit.

I did not even think of unscrewing the other end of the rod to get the cap off.

but how is that top end attached to the rod?

Hope he didn't "gank" the shaft trying to do so.

                I was verrrrry careful

I know I can disassemble the whole unit , but I was hoping not to . It's leaking from the top o-ring

you have to remove the tilt ram assy.
that eye is welded to the shaft.

apparently you have already pulled the piston out of the case.
From what Rod posted , it is a matter of unscrewing the rod from the piston not the eye

Rodbolt ,Here is the picture he posted
could you give him info on unscrewing the rod without damaging the piston and rod

This looks nothing like Fairdeal's project from a few months ago. Wonder how it is taken apart?

Wonder what the exact model number might be?

Fairdeal has an F225. Completely different model, with a completely different trim and tilt unit, than is the OP's model and unit.

OP's model has but one cylinder and one piston. Fairdeals has one tilt cylinder/piston and two trim cylinders/pistons.

Op's uses a piston within a piston within a cylinder.

F225 tilt piston on the left. 40 tilt/trim piston on the right.
