    seastar recommends removing and greasing the support rod and cleaning the tube once per year.
    same as a cable system.
    does not happen.
    all the way up to the point that the support rod cannot rotate when the engine is trimmed.
    that is why in my area you may run across the occasional arm that has been honed out and a grease fitting installed.

      If you're talking about the part I think you are I used a 2 jaw puller and mine popped right out. I tried using a mallet and they wouldn't budge.

      Also I will have to find it again but there is a company that sells a specialized puller just to remove those supports.

        I see the puller from marinetech tools for about $70.

          I do several a month and never had a problem, occasionally I have to heat one.
