What year is this motor?

Is it a 06 or 05? And will this plug work with the nema2000 plus for the units that will read engine data?

It is a 2005 production year model.

It has the Yamaha Command Link connector. Might work.

If we had the serial number we could say with a bit more certainty.

Your model has Yamaha Command Link output. Engine data can be seen on an NMEA 2000 MFD.

Simply plug a Lowrance 0120-37 harness into the engine connector at one end and to your NMEA 2000 network at the other end. Voila.

Which is why I used the words "2005 production year model".

As opposed to a 2005 model VZ150TLRD. Which could have been made in 2004 or 2005.

Yamaha screwed the pooch when they did what they did IMO. I think they have painted themselves into a corner. As time goes by it seems to be more and more difficult for folks to know how to use the Yam parts catalog.

The reason I wanted to know what year is most information states the engine has to be a 2006 for command link. But I have a late 2005 that should work

Under "Care and Maintenance", "Parts Lookup" just punch in your PID in Yamaha's Parts Lookup page , and click the arrow to the right of the PID boxes.

Bingo, it tells you its and outboard 150 HP, VZ150-2 stroke, model VZ150TLR beginning production date of 04/05 (which would be 2006 model year), and takes you to the first parts diagram for that motor.

Couldn't be any simpler!

It would have been a 2006 model year if Yamaha had kept using the term model years. In that case it would have been a VZ150TLRE.

No more model years after 2005. Even if, in the OP's case, his motor was built in 2005.

was a 1970 model.
that motor was manufactured in 05.
was an 06 and later model.
