F150TXR Balancer question for Rodbolt (or others)

I currently have the version 3 balancer in my 06 engine.

I was told by Yamaha the version 4 balancer is the same as the the 3 (updated oiling), just more clearances for a quieter unit.

I noticed the current unit making some noise that it didn't before. It was changed out 5/12 @ 157 hours. Current engine time is approx 210.

*Question for Rod, you posted you changed yours twice. I assume currently with the version 4. Did you notice the 3rd version much louder, etc? Did you just want the latest version or ?

*Also, per the PDF directions (below), the pic's show the drilled alignment mark for the balancer (and the 20' mark at the starter) however they appear to be inwards slightly (not dead nuts on) when installed.

I gather IF it's off a full tooth, the alignment marks will be off a bunch?

Lastly, Boats.net show the part / kit # as 63P-11500-04-00 :

I would think it'd be the same unit, if someone could confirm...

Better to use the Yamaha USA parts catalog. It will indicate use of the -04-00 balancer on all F150 models with a production date of 01/2013 and later.

Now it just so happens that as of Jan 2013 the F150TXR/TLR models were no longer offered. In Jan 2013 the model designators were F150JA/F150LA/F150XA. These models have now been replaced by F150JB/F150LB/F150XB models.

The -03-00 balancer is no longer available. If anyone orders a balancer today of any part number they will only get the -04-00 configuration.

A -04-00 balancer by definition can not be the same as the -03-00. Now it will have many similarities but it is not the same part. A -00-00 balancer will also have many similarities with the -04-00 balancer.

Yep... Just found that out. The rep WAS able to straighten it out.

I would still like an answer about the alignment of the balancer shafts as they don't look dead on nuts (close) per the PDF instructions...

And Rodbolt, I think the case sealer, Yamabond 4, (semi-drying would this be ok?

I use Loctite 518.
when the degree mark is located on the starter as per a tech bulliten the other timing mark shou;ld line up at the timing pointer.
hold the balancer gears down,shake it, the marks line up.

When it started, the "new noise" it was while cold and at operating temp. I held a screwdriver to my ear and block. It was the loudest in the area of the balancer gears.

Well, now what's happening...

I went out this afternoon with the PDF instructions and peeked at the engine, etc on doing the job.

While the cowl was off, I put the muffs on and was going to record the "noise", running.

The noise stopped, even cold... Had some belt noise-sounded dry (that got quieter with slightly higher rev's), but as of right now, it's back to normal....

Checked the oil, just as clean/g0lden as when I changed it last about 10 months ago and at the correct level...

Soooo, it's staying, at least for now... Sorry...

BTW, the 04 version is about $390 with the sealer delivered...

I can't hear "that noise" 6" away, nor can the screwdriver!

Just overly careful I guess after reading about the other one that let loose and is now a complete tear down......
