  • Yamaha HPDI Oil linkage adjustment?

Doing a final check of everything after a rebuild of a 2000, 200HP HPDI. Hoping to get an answer on the proper way to adjust the oil linkage arm. I have read many different opinions on how to do this. I was going to do the following.

    1. Back off the throttle stop screw so all the throttle plates are closed
    2. Adjust the oil linkage rod to the specified .05mm clearance
    3. Return the throttle stop screw to its original position
    4. Double check TPS setting.

I have tried this method but the pump lever does not touch the stop at WOT as stated in the manual

Is this ok? Will this work?
    Thanks

Service manual crap has been overcome by events.

Need the complete model of the motor and the number of the SM you are getting your information from.

the latest method is in a tech bulliten.
the basic procedure is to back off the idle screw.
        loosen the shutter screws.
make sure all 6 shutters are fully closed, set the TPS,set the oil link clearance.
tighten 5 of the shutter screws.
move the idle speed screw to the correct TPS value.
        tighten the last screw.
that is a basic of what your trying to do.
        DO NOT use premix fuel.
when you start it for the first time unclip the oil link and allow it to go full oiling.
remove the prop and let it idle in gear for about 10 min.
Boscoe can most likely find and post the bulliten.

The manual identity will be on the left hand side of the book. Begins with LIT-18616-XX-XX.

Anyhoo, later SM's and Yam bulletins no longer specify the oil control rod hitting a wide open stop. Does not make sense anyway to limit the travel on both sides of the pump. Later data has the oil pump set up to X value from the idle stop when the throttle plates are closed. The arm will be wherever it will be when the throttle is wide open.

the Yamaha V motors that used a stop for WOT used kien pumps.
about 1990 Yamaha switched to mikuni that does not use a WOT stop.
