      If Yamaha used a real electrical generations system there would be no need for a RR cooler. More power when needed, less heat when not needed.

        unlike some altenators you simply cannot regulate the field coil or the lighting coil.

        so at 5000 RPM those 12 flywheel magnets are capeable of close to 90 amps.
        so at 5000 RPM say we are looking at 50 amp output at 14-8V.
        but we are only using maybe 11 amps.
        the other 39 amps are shorted to ground.
        that is where the heat coes from.
        it is why most belt driven altenators have cooling fans.
        over the years I have had more issues with belt driven alternators than lighting coil style.
