25MSH Steering Conversion

I'm looking for some info about doing a steering conversion on my 25. It's an '04 2stroke MSH manual start. I'm building a small console for my skiff and need to A. Confirm if the parts I have found already will fit my application, and B. Figure out what else I would need to complete this project.

I found a thread a good ways back, about this same project with an '08MSH 2 Stroke. I'm hoping the parts for them are interchangeable.

Throttle and Shift Linkage: 6L2-48501-11-00
Steering Arm: 689-61350-02-00
Steering Hook- 6J8-48511-51-00

I'm still searching for an actual steering kit that will fit and a Starboard mount throttle control. Thanks in advance for any info that can be provided.

Do you have a Teleflex/Seastar steering system? If so visit their website. They have a ton of helpful info on how to determine which system you have. Unless your changing to a different type of steering system, you'll want to determine what type you have so you can order the appropriate components.

If you dont know what type of steering system you have then take a few photos of the steering base. You can then match it up to the description/pictures they provide on website.

My motor is a tiller setup, I am hoping to convert it to a steering control on a mini console. I have looked at the sea star kits, and provided I can find the right model, will likely use one if possible.

Gotcha. I must of overlooked that you were converting. As far as confirming the correct conversion parts, I'd contact boats.net via phone on Monday. They have excellent customer service and will determine for you the exact parts required for your engine model.

As far as the actual steering components, seastar pretty much dominates the market so they'll have what you need. You just have to decide what type of steering system you want, hydro or mechanical. From there you can then decide on a specific system within one or the other. IMO, for such a small engine a mechanical system is all you need. And they are less expensive and simple to install.
