  • 2017 F300 Flush Circulator?

Hey guys. I was over my friends house last weekend and he was showing me his new 2017 F300 installed on his new pathfinder boat. I'm unsure what specific model of the F300 class. He pointed out that the engine does not require flushing via lower unit intake (muffs), instead having to only use the power head hose attachment.

The boat was over water on his lift, so from the seawall we were standing on he pointed towards the lower cowling. He says he pushes a button that turns on the fresh water circulator, which powers water through all cooling passages.

I was blown away to learn this, especially having participated in so many discussions on this forum regarding muff flush vs. power head hose vs. both.

Is this a new feature for ALL '17 models? What kind of pump propels the water? I'm interested in learning more about this nifty feature.

was he running the motor while flushing?
was there a hose hooked up to the power head flusher?
or maybe a hose from his fresh water tank wash down on the boat?

I didn't ask him if the engine is ON while flushing, I assume it's not. He hooks up a standard fresh water hose from a spigot. Turns it on, then apparently flips a switch on the engine. He says an internal pump circulates the fresh water throughout the entire coolant passages, including past the stats whether or not they are open.

Is this the first you're hearing of this too?

Spec sheet doesn't say anything about it:

There's NO owners manual yet at the Yamaha site either.

          Yamaha 2017 F300 4.2L Offshore 30 in.

          Some more info:

          http://www.wisemansales.com/2017-yam...tm?id=24876633

It does have a "SINGLE 75 mm electronically con*****ed throttle valve", plated cylinders.

I don't how they would keep that water from dumping out the LU with the flush device..

Jason, you have me going on this!
I looked at Pathfinders website for a 2500 Hybrid and the specs for a 2017 Yamaha F300NCA that Pathfinder offers. Did not find anything on a dedicated pump to circulate water for flushing purposes.
From your description, I think what your friend is talking about is using the his Pathfinders fresh water washdown system attached to his flush port on the F300NCA. Hits his "fresh water"switch and he flushes (like 99Yam says). But that 2500 Hybrid has only a 6 gallon fresh water washdown tank, would that be enough? I guess he could use "raw water" but why would you use raw water if it was not clean.

Still so curious, please check with your friend and confirm.

            Thanks!!

Until you check and know for sure about this "new" system, and to be on the safe side maybe be sure lower unit is either submerged in water or has muffs on it to flush....to be sure about water pump is wet....better safe than sorry!

Someone needs to read the owners manual.

Even IF there was this option, you KNOW Yamaha would be posting it on its spec's sheet, which it isn't. It would be a BIG PLUS...

As long as there is pressure at the spigget he hooks to and turns on, there in no need for a pump, just a bypass around the stats maybe.

I do have better things to do, but Pathfinder Boats (Maverick Boat Group) factory is 1/2 hour from me and has factory tours Fridays at 2:00pm. If I get a wild hair, maybe I'll go by there and ask them directly!
Exactly what model Pathfinder boat does your friend have Jason?
                    Just gotta know!!!

Apparently this is the exact reason why the switch on engine is activated, to bypass stats. From what ive learned on this forum, the only downside to using power head hose to flush engine is unless stats are open fresh water will not flush all cooling passages. Perhaps Yam has developed a way, using this switch, for owners to not have to use muffs. Or perhaps my friend completely misunderstood what the salesman told him.

could be if he was talking about a pump also.
you need to find out more from him

No idea of model, I believe it's 27ft. But the model of boat wouldn't help them determine which engine hp/model he has since each boats rigging is customized per buyer. Any authorized yam dealer would probably know about this flush switch new to 2017 models.
