nothing.
#1 pulser is the signal to spark #1 and inject#3.
pulser coil #2 is to spark cyl 2 and inject cyl 4.
and so on and so on.
it is a transistor ign system no charge coils.
it is a 12v ign system.
the single driver set up supplies the 90V or so peak to operate the injectors.
it is not difficult to test.
Gotcha. Makes sense. As far as the YDS, I just took not seeing anything highlighted in red and no codes as a good thing. A lot to learn about this HPDI. I'm glad I took the engine off the boat for the winter to work on it. Didn't anticipate these issues. Thought it was going to be a straight forward rebuild. I have rebuilt older 2 strokes I had in past with no issues. I just rebuilt my first Yamaha 4 stroke, 2011, 115 for a friend of mine. Piece of cake. Can't afford a new one. Have to figure this out! I saved a few data reports from when I first got the engine. I will compare them to what I have now. Hopefully it will point me in the right direction. Everybody's input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks Again!
Boscoe.

He knows. I told him how you run and manage this website. I even spoke highly of you.
Only thing to be debated is "are you getting more crotchey in your old age or have you always been as crotchety as you are now?"
mostly always crotchety.
that is when I am not perfect or royal.
can I get sarchastic yep.
but I do try to help folks even when they don't wish to help themselves.
I try to get folks to think, first and foremost you simply have to have a basic understanding of what something does and what does it do.
without that, no amount of tools and test equipment can help.
PROGRESS....Went thru all my old YDS data going back to 2013 and compared it to todays reports. Almost identical. Compared engine off, running in neutral and running in gear. Virtually the same data. Compared it to my buddies HPDI data as well. Very similar.
Here is the kicker. I think it's the *** dam spark plugs believe it or not. I came across (2) new NGK spark plugs I had from my Yamaha PWC's. I had nothing to lose as they were the same length so I threw them in cylinders 1 & 2. Wish I had a 3rd; I would have put it in 3. Engine ran noticeably better. Crisp throttle response. A lot of white smoke though. Probably all the raw unburnt fuel in there. Checked the lpf pumps, good. Still didn't idle that well, but progress! The plugs in there were fairly new but had been sitting in my tool box for a year. I had an ignition issue a year ago which wound up being a faulty stator and coil. I remember the stator had a burnt area on it. That's when the plugs were removed. Maybe the stator screwed them up. Who knows. I installed a fresh battery today too. Will be getting a set of plugs tomorrow. I hope the hell that's it! STAY TUNED!!!!!!!
Just to throw another kink into the process, back in the old days working on motors black smoke was normally to rich on fuel, blue smoke is oil burning, and white was water.
hope your problem is plugs like Rod mentioned before
some years back my very good friend the late Bill Klyver owned B&T marine.
he was working on a 200 HPDI.
he called about a running issue one day.
I told him to check it with a Kv tester.
next day he called cause it would start but die when the key was released.
I told him to put a set of plugs in it.
that was all that was wrong.
the HPDI can and will run on two out of 6 cyl.
what is really funny is it will rev over 4000 RPM on two cyl with no load.
I have watched people do it.
a Kv tester is an essential tool that very few techs have or understand why they need it.
FIXED I can't believe it was the spark plugs!!! They literally look new. May have had 20 hours on them MAX. Anyway, it runs awesome and I can't wait to pop it back on the old MAKO. I know one thing, I will NEVER use an old spark plug again. LOL. I want to thank everybody for their input.
