when the HPDI was introduced here in the US it came with a water detect feature.
up until about 05-06 if the switch in the filter cup switched to ON the alarm sounded and RPM reduction occurred.
best I recall the icon was located in the FMM.
those that did not have FMM did not get an icon.
the only criteria for alarm and reduction was the switch triggered.
about 06 it would only sound in N.
if you were up and running heading to the gulf stream your first clue of water in the fuel was the engine quit.
was about the dumbest change of any alarm system ever.
    still that way today.

After the fuel in the engine was flushed by Central Marine we took the boat home and drained the fuel tank pulling from the bottom of the tank. Very little water was present. We filled the fuel water separator with good fuel. New fuel in the tank with 1 bottle of Iso Heet. Fired it up and sounds great. Final analysis, all evidence points to water entering the tank through the fuel vent line. We have fixed the problem. Should be good to go.

Just curious as to how you drained the tank pulling from the bottom.
If using the normal outlet, it does not sit at the very bottom so it will not get all of the water out. So when running there will be puddles of free water sloshing back and forth.
Probably will be picked up the pickup tube when in rough water.

now if you opened up the tank and put a tube all of the way down in a corner of tank and tilted the boat so that all of the water would gravitate to that corner, you could get most of it out.
