Can i modify a binnacle control to be side mount concealed control

I bought a new console and I bought a Binnacle Mount control but really would like to modify it to be a6X0-48206-12-00-Flush-Mount-Yamaha-Concealed Control-Box

The look exactly the same except for the "trim ring where it ggoes thru the side of the console

Is this comething that's doable or should I purchase the real thing and sell the one I bought

Sorry I can't answer your question but just an fyi, I recently bought a Yamaha flush mount binnacle when I swapped out the Honda BF150 along with the flush mount binnacle and lo and behold! the Honda and Yamaha box were identical, including the cables used . Only difference is that the Honda handle has "Honda" lettering on the ring and the Yamaha has "Yamaha".
