I like Boscoes better as it shows one more representative to my 3 carb motor.
looks like yours is for a single carb motor and does not show where it gets air from or in what position things change if it has a switch to move, or the diaphragm pump in the 3 cylinder/carb model

I believe there's only ONE prime-start "set up" on one carb even thou the engine has multiple carbs...

IE, basically showing the systems design..

        .
I don't know specifically what engine this pic is of...
Jethro would have to chime in..

no it feeds all 3 cylinders at the intake.
one line out of unit to intake but intake has internal passages to all 3

Ok, but ONLY one carb is equipped and then fuel is fed into the "intake" manifold, and reeds, correct?

You wouldn't know your model off hand would you?
The one 1999 40 I looked at had the prime start only on the center carb. (I assume it sprays the extra fuel into the intake)..

yes only one unit on center carb.
line out goes to the top of intake before the reeds right behind the carbs.
intake has passages to all 3 reed areas,
That was another Question I had to find out about. did not make since to enrich only one cylinder

                Makes sense..

I thought it was only on one carb, never really thought about that extra fuel
                dispersing in the intake manifold...

                Tks..

manifold is probably the wrong name since each carb feeds only its own cylinder.
only common passage between them would be for the enrichment

So there's an orifice(s) in the engine that goes to the other two reed "area's"?

                      drilled passages I believe,
only orifice is the one at the needle and seat from what I remember

Boscoe, ***, great working drawings. They made my day. They should be printed in the service manual. Now I see how it works and repairing it should be a piece of cake. Thanks a million friend.

Sometimes a million words are not as good as a simple drawing.

Thanks to the great drawings I think this problem is about solved. Looks like the thermal enrichment device is not working.

                              Thanks to everyone.

You said you had already replaced the enrichment valve once already and now you think this newer one has failed as well? Is this correct?

If so, how long ago did you replace it?

                                Thanks
