Following your train of thought RB, what might be easier and should work at least from the engine forward:

Remove the fuel line at the engine, gently pressurize it (maybe 15 PSI as it's going to bleed out in the fuel tank) and squirt all connections, filters, etc with soapy water looking for bubbles.. I would think it'd be easier.

Also, check the smoothness of the transom fuel filter GASKET SURFACE (and no extra filter o-rings). If there's a bunch of corrosion on the fuel filter mount, could be from there as well...

Ok, 10 PSI, about the same used to check if a lower unit unit is leaking or not, again, spray with soapy water and watch for bubbles..

Bubbles are easier to see and as bad as his is leaking, it shouldn't be hard to find.

Also worth mentioning (as it happened to me), the Yamaha fuel filter under the cowl. As the plastic cup likes to expand with ethanol, make sure it IS fully seated on the main mount/o-ring.

pressure vacuum monitoring would be the best IMHO as it will not be affected by the check valves checking your pressure you are pumping in, if they work properly
