Yes it is a nice boat. I assume you have a lift as no bottom paint. I despise bottom paint....

      As they were prepping me,

they explained there was a possibility I would die whilst obtaining the result...
I bet if your doctor knew/saw that you were lugging your body (by carrying around a lot of extra pounds that were putting a strain on your heart) he would tell you to shed some weight. Similarly, weight from a boat can be removed to stop the heart (I mean engine) from lugging. But more times than not the preferred way to do it is to reduce the pitch of the propeller. Which is why propellers come in so many different pitches. It does not hurt a motor to turn 6000 RPM's if it is rated to do so. It can hurt it however if it is being "lugged".

The transmission in most cars will shift to prevent a motor from being lugged. Your motor does not have one. It is up to you to prevent your motor from being lugged so as to keep it healthy. You are your motors' doctor. Doctor Fairdeal. Doctor Fairdeal the cardiologist. Better a cardiologist than a proctologist.

Think about an airplane piston motor. Each and every time the airplane takes off the motor is run at wide open throttle. No harm no foul. In fact, an aircraft mechanic each year, or every hundred hours, will run the motor at wide open throttle to verify that it is able to turn its red line RPM.

When at Yamaha I would get calls about a four stroke "making oil". I would ask how many hours on the motor. One fellow said about 50 hours. I asked how many RPM's it would turn at WOT and how much time he had run at WOT. He did not know what it would turn at WOT. He said he would never run it at WOT because he did not want to harm the motor. He had *****ed almost the entire 50 hours. We paid a dealer to decarbon his motor and to take it to a lake to run the sh1t out of it to get it to stop making oil. Oh, he needed a different propeller because he was severely over propped.

can you run a chain saw at half throttle all the time and expect it to do a good job and last longer than one run at WOT?

All of them I have ever seen had 2 speeds idle and WOT. they cut best at WOT just like weed eaters.

Some motors are made to run high RPM

Everyone that owns a motor gets to decide how they will run it and care for it.
        it is a free country

Yes, and when they don't care for it and it runs like crap it is the darn engine makers fault in which case it should be repaired under warranty. Yamaha knows or should have known about ethanol being crappy stuff and should have designed the motor so that it would not run crappy after crap gasoline has sat in it unused for about a year and a half.

            yep.
dog it till it is dead then whine about it.
over prop most carbed 4 strokes and they simply wont go.
overprop an EFI 4 stroke and it can make oil and/or detonate pistons.

How's the new center mount transducer working out? I think I mentioned before, around here it would stand a pretty good chance of being sheared off.

Hard coral bottom around here -

but I expect I would take out the skeg, the prop and maybe the whole LU

before I put a scratch on the transducer.

And its working great - the Garmin "Side Scan" is amazing

                    Thanks.

                    Its a 7608xsv

"Deer" ? hmm - I'm drawing a blank. Key West is the end of the road, of course.

                      Thanks for the model #.
(holy crap, that IS a top of the line unit!!!)

                      Sorry, "Big Pine Key":

"Key Deer" are only found there:

One storm (Hurricane), many years ago, came thru and approx 3' of water swept OVER the island, literally. I went down with him to save what we could.

He didn't have a boat down there at the time, so no issues with that. His primary home is still up here in Ft Myers..

Yes, we have Key Deer - adorable nuisances. Tamer than my cat.

That was Wilma. I didn't own the house then, but the water came up just shy of my downstairs enclosure.

Sea water reached the top of his 4' chain link fence, ruined his RAISED outside A/C unit, what a mess.
It was about 3' UP/ INSIDE his lower, enclosed "work area". Guess his place is bit lower than yours.

But your place looks like his. I didn't see any deer up close like that!!!
