customer dropped off a copy of the work order.
water in the gas,VST and fuel system cleaned.

    date was june of 2015.

    guess what I found?

    water in the gas.

so much it quit running and would not restart.
cleared the VST,flushed the injectors and the fuel rail.
started the engine and let it run about 30 min.

cause of the issue? fuel tank vented cap leaking and the fuel sender gasket dry rotted.

so until the root cause gets fixed it will do it again and again and again.

goes back to any repairs done have a root cause,if you don't find and fix that the issue will come back.

Couple threads recently debating need to clean ENTIRE fuel system when one part fails due to water. Thought Rods post was worth unearthing.

My other neighbor had a new boat with a Yamaha on it. The fuel tank was always filling with water(a bunch) and of course, the engine wouldn't run.

Turned out to be a faulty hull fuel filler cap allowing water into the tank.

I offered to change them out but he was in the middle of a law suit over it (dealer wouldn't repair) which he ultimately got another Brand new boat. (he sold that shortly after that)

Makes you wonder how a bad $5 fuel cap gasket was installed at the factory. Or how it got bad with the boat sitting on the dealer lot.

I never saw his, but it sounded like the vent was leaking water into the tank. Poor install, poor design or ?, dunno....
