Stupid question drain plug the longer plug goes on top or bottom?

doesn't one (possibly the "longer") have a magnet in it?

that goes on the bottom

Can't remember. But the bottom plug usually has a small round magnet on the tip to attract metal particles. At least mine does.....

the other is the "top"

long one on the bottom.
on some models if you put it on the top it wipes out the thrust bearing.
seen it done.
