parts for a 1980 Yammy

Was given a 1980 6 HP yamaha outboard that look like it is in very useable condition. trying to find a parts diagram for it . all of the online sites go back to about 1984 ish. anyone know an online source for 1980 parts diagrams?

What is the complete engine ID? It will begin with the number 6. Should be on a label that is affixed to the left hand clamp bracket.

More than likely the same parts used in your 6 HP two stroke Yamaha will be used in a later year model 6 HP Yamaha. A Yamaha 6LJ for instance.

1986 6LJ Yamaha Outboard Parts

The reason that you can find parts books only back to 1984 at this USA website, and any other USA website for that matter, is because that was the first year that Yamaha outboard motors were offered here in the USA. Only stuff sold by Yamaha USA is in the Yamaha USA parts books.

model number on the ID tag is 6E0


the 6 hp 1986 lower unit I looked up did not look like th eone I have...

6E0 shows as the prefix for a 4 HP Yamaha. Take a look at the 1984 4SN and see if it looks like your motor.

Notice that the part numbers for the 4 HP lower unit all begin with the 6E0 prefix.
