I was starting up my 1999 Yamaha C90 today preparing for a trip to Florida on Monday, put the motor on the muffs, turned on the water and cranked the motor up like normal....fast idle all O.K., but noticed the tell-tale a bit weaker than normal, then after a few minutes the high temperature alarm comes on....removed/inspected/cleaned the thermostat and pressure control valve. Then I noticed a slight kink in the garden hose which restricted water flow just enough to slow the tell-tale and high temperature alarm comes on. Moral of the story: check for kinks in hose and ensure healthy water flow while on muffs because the motor requires it for efficient cooling....the tell-tale flow is no guarantee of sufficient water flow/cooling....so live and learn....hope this may help someone having a panic moment if they get a high temperature alarm while flushing on muffs...
