  • Yamaha YCOP additional transmitter

I just purchased/installed a new YCOP system on my F70. I would like to get a third key fob, but based on the price, it is cheaper to buy another entire system from overseas (UK) and get two key fobs. Would it be possible to reprogram a key fob from another unit to match my system? I do have both original key fobs (that work correctly) that came with my system. I would just like a third fob to store at home in case I lose the two that I would carry on trips.

    Steve

BTW: it was a very easy install process.

Your local Yamaha dealer should be able to help if you do not find anything on line
    found this:

If you still want back up spare Y-COP remote controls back at home then you can programme up to three additional remote control units if you wish, giving you up to 5 remotes in total. Your dealer can arrange to order the extra remotes for you and program them for you.

A US dealer supplied remote looks like it will cost about $150; while an entire Y-Cop system from the UK (which includes 2 remotes) cost less than $100 (compared to around $700 in the US). I think the reason is that some of the European outboards are required to come with the Y-Cop system. The shops are probably selling off one of the units when they install dual outboards since only one is needed for multiple motors.

Yea...I did take a gamble buying a Y-Cop system from overseas for under $100; however, it did arrive in factory packaging. It mounts and seems to function properly. It makes all the correct beeps and indicators on the gauges. It also blocks the motor from cranking. I still need to try it on the water...arm the system, unplug it, and see if it operates with the 2500 rpm max limit.
