  • 2006 90hp outboard iac issue

My outboard will start and run as long as I open the throttle, or remove the IAC. I installed a new IAC ($200) and it was open when it was installed. The computer told it to close, and does not seem to want to open it.

Which of the sensors would cause the computer to keep this closed? Does it close at full throttle? Would a bad throttle position sensor cause this?

I think this is an F90.

Check the wiring to the connector that attaches to the IAC valve. It is known for becoming damaged. If so, the ECU cannot control the IAC valve.

Yes, it is an f90. The wiring looks brand new, there is voltage on three of the pins. I think one had 12 and the other two had about 8. my best guess is that the ecu is telling it to close.

pay attention to what is said and check it all out.
if one wire/connection is bad it can move one way but not the other
