  • Remove driveshaft from 2010 9.9hp?

Working on a 2010 Yamaha 9.9 high thrust version.
I have an issue obviously by the looks of the photo. Broke the driveshaft bearing housing trying to remove it. is there an easy way to remove the broken piece or will the bushing get in the way of doing so?
I'm getting the feeling this is gonna be a much bigger job than originally thought
I simply took the lower portion of the leg off by removing the 4 bolts, disconnecting the shifter linkage, water pump, and housing and tried to pry the bearing housing up from both sides, it snapped fairly easy.

Did I need to remove the propeller and shaft to take the driveshaft out?

Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks!

    remove the prop shaft.
remove the driveshaft pinion nut and gear.
    remove the drive shaft.
    then remove the seal housing.

That was it, thank you ^^^^
*** this was a way bigger job than anticipated. I have 2 engines beside each other on a stand and wanted to swap the extra long leg on a T9.9 with a long leg from a T8. If i had known I had to remove the engine block from the beginning it would have saved a bunch of extra work.
