Hello from stockport UK. got a project boat that me and friends are working on. no spark on engine 663 so have started depotting cdi tia02-12 to see if there is anything I can find. label for engine is missing so I think its around 1978?

did you test the inputs to and the output from the CDI?

What did you hope to find by opening up the CDI? Now that it is ruined your only option is to install a new one and hope that the problem is solved. That is, that you did not destroy a perfectly good part.

If the new CDI still no sparkee then do what should have been done in the first place, check the inputs to the CDI. If no inner there will be no outer. And if there is an output then make sure that output has a good path to get to where it is going.

Cdi had a big crack through the potting. So needs replacing anyway. Also being left outside in the rain with the cover not fitted securely may have let moisture in. Am electronics engineer by trade. Cant believe how simple this expensive box is! Somebody has checked coils so I am awaiting dva components for my multimeter to arrive.
