can someone explain the proper winterazation on a 2007 f90 with fixed 18 gal fuel tank? apparently i did not do it properly! old gas really screwed me up causing a very expensive repair including wiping out the vst fuel pump!

Besides the above,
IMO, I'd put a good stabilizer (Gas Shok, Yamaha branded or K100) in the fuel and Yamaha's Ring Free (2X the recommended amount) and run the engine. The K100 will PU any water in the tank and that will burn off with the fuel: http://k-100.com/videos/demonstration-videos/ video #3 specifically.
Run that thru the engine.
With either of the fuel stabilizers, you should be good for a year or simply drain the tank using the primer bulb BUT pumped into separate tanks (and used in your car).
I'd drain the VST (should be a screw at the bottom). I'd also change at least the engine oil AND once near done, put a teaspoon or two of Seafoam into the spark plug holes and rotate (spark PLUGS OUT) to lubricate the top end. Re-install the plugs.
When re-starting the next time, pull the plugs and crank over to make sure you DO NOT have a hydraulic lock(you shouldn't with that small amount)...
I would give a good spray to the powerhead (under the cowl) with a good coating. I use LPS2: http://www.lpslabs.com/product-details/561 . You can use a Yamaha branded product and others here have posted other products...

About four years ago I got into the habit of removing all fuel from the boat between trips. For me, no fuel means no fuel to go bad. I pump the tank dry using a $26 12V solenoid positive displacement fuel pump from Rock Auto, a 12V plug & wire and fuel hose, drain the bulbs and filter and leave the tanks open and upside down. I still have the unused partial bottle of stabilizer from years ago. This year the boat only got two trips. Outboard ran like new.
