Beginner needs help finding a manual for Yam 55 BET
then you need a DVA adapter to get the proper reading.
specs are minimums
but if you go some kind of readings going in and none out there must be a problem with the CDI if you disconnected the white wire at the CDI and it still did not have any voltage coming out
Well, you never stop learning. I actually had no idea, have to get a DVA.
We do have some voltage coming out of the CDI, i can't remember how much it was. Something really low though, single digits. I wanna say around 4v, but i really can't remember - have to double check tomorrow.
Just checked, or rather, tried to check the resistance on the stator coil. Came up with naught at all. Zero resistance between "blue and brown" wires, which according to the page we use, should be around 280ish or something.
Have to get a proper sized socket from work, and a flywheel puller, can't really visually check the stator.
One important question that came up over the last two days though, and i can not seem to find it: a repair/maintenance handbook. Possibly including a spare parts list. If someone has one, could you let me know where you got it from? I think that'd be well spent money in my case.

the c50 wont work for you.
its a 3cyl with a different carb and ign design.
try the C55 from 89-1995 US version.
will be a lot closer.
they only imported them to the US from 1989-1995.
Cheers, but since i don't know the US designations, what's the difference between the C55TLRS and C55ELRT?
The service manual certainly seems interesting, if it's usable for my engine.
agreed, ohms are simple to check.
just wanted to know if you read it.
DVA is easy to make or buy
cap, diode, resister, and some wiring
google it
if you want to compare your peak voltage readings to specs , I would use the equipment they tell you to use. but that is just me
Well, if i have no resistance/open circuit on the coil, i won't get any readout with any tool. And i know now that there's something wrong with the stator, since i can't measure any resistance there - i have to get some tools from work before i can open it though, don't have the right size flywheel puller. A ScopeMeter is basically an oscilloscope. I don't think there's a more accurate way to measure ignitions. Certainly easier ones though - but since i don't have to diagnose, just to compare numbers, it'll do.
First "T" is "Power Trim & Tilt/Electric Start"
"E" is "Manual Tilt/Electric Start"
"S" is 1994" model year
Second "T" is 1995 model year
Again, this may not be specific to your motor non-us, but just sayin it is at least a 2 cylinder as Rodbolt stated.
OK, I think I found the manual specific to your "55 BET, 663 L 721054". However, the starting serial number (721947) is after yours (721054). Yours is probably an earlier model?
Look at the attachment and see what you think.
If you PM me with your e-mail address, I can send you a pdf document of the entire manual.
That seems about right, and this also makes it clear that the 55BET is in fact a C55TRLS. So the service manual that you linked earlier, that'd do. Gonna have a brief look around if i can find it in europe though, if i could save money on import taxes, that'd be great.

I've got the manual in pdf. if you would like me to send to you via e-mail if the file is not too large. give me an e-mail address and I'll try!
