  • New F70 Speed sensor install

I just picked up my 2016 F70LA. It was rigged at the Yamaha shop, but I already installed the Command Link gauges. The last thing I need to do is install the speed sensor. I found the wiring harness with the "S" mark, but I'm not positive where the speedometer hose is, that connects to the sensor coupler. I found an orange hose that seems to end. It connects to the engine with a screw that may open a valve to the hose. Could this be the speedometer hose? If so, where should I bolt the coupler? A picture from someone who has this installed on their F70 would be awesome.

    Thanks for the help,
    Steve

I don't think that orange hose is the speed sensor hose. It looks like the coupler bracket bolts to a hole at the rear of the motor near the fuel filter. I still cannot find where the hose/pitot thing is...

that is the VST drain line.

the speedo hose enters the lower pan via the steering tube, follow it.
cut off the plastic nipple and attach it to the speed sensor nipple.
      USE A TIE STRAP.

Is that the tube that comes out of the front of the motor? The one that seems to be on all motors (like my old 1998 2 stroke)?

If so, I guess I pull that into the motor and wrap it around the back to the coupler. ...right?

        Thanks,
        Steve
