        Your very welcome.

I usually give that fitting one squirt of grease maybe every other time out. It (the cable) will NOT seize after installing that. They sent me a spare inside o-ring (which I still have new in its packaging)..

I did splurge and ONLY use Yamaha branded grease on all engine fittings as the cheaper stuff tended to gum up (especially the steering fitting-with grease coming out the top and bottom)

Nice product! But, if you only occasionally use you boat, be sure to exercise the steering on a regular basis. Even the best grease and o-rings can get hard if sitting stagnant.

I used the Wally World stuff from 1997 till maybe two years ago..

Never a problem with the steering as it'd force the grease out. The inner seal in that "end" is always inside grease, so I gather that all that grease helped its life span.

Now, when I changed over to the the Yamaha grease for the ENGINE STEERING ITSELF (grease fitting in the mid section), it took awhile for new grease to come out ALL ends(not just the one that was fully clear). That gets a squirt of grease after every outing..

Mine froze solid one year and I had to hammer the cable out with a 3/8" extension. Since then I pull it apart and give it a good cleaning every year and haven't had issue.
