I used the Wally World stuff from 1997 till maybe two years ago..
Never a problem with the steering as it'd force the grease out. The inner seal in that "end" is always inside grease, so I gather that all that grease helped its life span.
Now, when I changed over to the the Yamaha grease for the ENGINE STEERING ITSELF (grease fitting in the mid section), it took awhile for new grease to come out ALL ends(not just the one that was fully clear). That gets a squirt of grease after every outing..Scott
