  • Intermittent Overheat Alarm

    Yamaha 200 HPDI (2004).
Been having an intermittent problem with overheat alarm on one of my engines. New water pump and t-stats but that did not fix the issue.
After doing some research I expected it may by the poppet valve. So as a test, I started the engine and let it idle in the slip for 20 minutes and never got an alarm.
On some trips I have no problem. Last trip I was wreck hopping covering maybe 5-7 miles at a time. Did not have an alarm until my trip back to the slip from the last wreck only about a 4 mile trip.
Pulling my hair out a bit as to the intermittent nature of the problem.
One thing I should add when flushing from the hose flush on the engine the engine that overheats pees way less than the 'good' engine. This leads me to think there is a restriction somewhere but when running both engines pee the same.

Anyone have any educated guesses as to what could be the problem?
    Thanks guys.

Yes. At least according to my gauge. The left most bottom icon is flashing.
