No. Nobody in particular. I think everyone has at one time or another ragged on someone blowing up a thread. I was trying to be somewhat humorous as this thing went from water leak to names to some sort of coded word ****.....I find it all entertaining.
Went out today and jigged up some sardines going for halibut and went home with zilch.But a mechanic on the water mentioned to me about checking the drains on the aft bottom cowling. Some have check balls that stick open.He also mentioned when drifting for halibut to trim the motor up some so it is not getting splashed so much by the ocean conditions.
those drains DO NOT have check balls. they are a duckbill design. can they fail? yep. the tech bulliten that covered some 50 HP motors should apply to ALL motors. it involved zip tying all the water tell tale fittings. some blew off and when the cowl filled up water got suck down #4 and broke the rod and would then shred the block.
