  • Upper casing:Paint bubbles and aluminium rust

My trusty Yam 115 Mod. 1993 is starting to show some aging signs.
The aluminum casing under the bottom cowling has started to rust, showing this characteristic whitish powder at specific points where the paint is peeling off.
Is there anything that can be done to stop or even reverse this process?

    Thanks

Sand it, primer and paint....Advance Auto has a can of spray paint called Metallic Grey-Blue that's a pretty darn good match for the Yamaha color....

Yepper, ^^^. Just make sure you get ALL the corrosion out or you'll get to do "a do over."

We used zinc chromate on the Suzuki LU we re-welded (after disassembly). It was spotless clean before slipping the prop shaft back in but small sections of it easily scruffed off.

Outside, where the weld was(and ground down), it seemed to stick a bit better..

I'd rather work on my own 'toys' than working on other peoples stuff and then pay someone else to do mine. Depends entirely upon your earning rate (favours or frendlies have value too).
