Could you simply find the correct terminal on the relay assembly and run your own wire?

I noticed the cover diagram on my F150 relay assembly shows a 50 amp isolator fuse. So is the in-line fuse necessary when making the connections?
Only if you want the system to work. No fusee no currentee.

The fuse protects engine harness wiring and the isolator lead from the motor to the battery to which the isolator lead is connected.

And by the way, the isolator lead is protected by a fuse adjacent to the battery terminal. At least it should be. The isolator lead is hot all of the time. Powered either by the motor when the motor is running or powered by the battery if the motor is not running.

    Capiche?

Fixed it for you. And yes, there is a relay within the fuse box

        Ok. Thanks.

I was not aware of the diodes. Makes sense now. The in-line fuse I referred to is the one next to battery lead. I added a 25 amp fuse there as Rodbolt suggested a 20 or 30.

If you used the Yamaha isolator lead (or made your own) without a fuse, and you added your own 25 amp fuse to protect the isolator lead, you should be just fine.

After posting then saw V4. I knew someone would bust my chops on that.

Sometimes we bust ourselves - spelling isolator, isolater......Sometimes they will fix it in BRIGHT RED
