Water Intrusion?

My name's Chuck.

Attached is what I bought from Home Depot. Now, you have to be sure the size fits properly on what ever hose you connect. I found the right size to be just larger than "snug" on the hose. I changed my high pressure
fuel lines from VST to fuel rail, reconnected my tank fuel line to water separator/filter to primer bulb to engine. I feel so confident that I will not have a connection leak, and now that I don't have any worm screw clamps, strip or rust.



Now that I think about it (DUH!!!), I did not do the fuel line at the tank. Another item to add to my list.

Other than what you mention about the fitting at 90 degrees, I don't have anything to add.

I know if I ever had to do ANY high pressure lines I'd go that route..

Just ordered a $325 "Snap On" torque wrench (15-75' lbs) to replace my old Craftsman clicker which I don't trust, so it'd be awhile before I pop for that crimper..

I concur, this forum IS better.

But I'm going to politely call "misinformation" on this:

They do make yellow Teflon tape for gasoline purposes. However, it is not recommended for NPT threads. The tapered threads will cut through the tape and possibly cause the seal to fail. They are recommended for straight threads.

Chuck, I say "they make yellow tape" for "gas" - as in natural, LP, etc, - NOT "gasoline".

Although its only difference from white is that its thicker, and the color makes it obvious that its been used instead of the thinner white.

And of course any color PTFE tape is "compatible" with gasoline; PTFE ("Teflon") is compatible with just about everything on the planet.



Now, as to a NPT vs NPS "recommendation" - would you provide a reference to support that?

I was wrong. I concur with your statement "they make yellow tape" for "gas" - as in natural, LP, etc, - NOT "gasoline". I must admit, I read that "yellow tape for gasoline" in a post on another forum (unsubstantiated).

Attached is Parker/Racor instruction sheet for 320R-RAC Series Gasoline Fuel Filter/Water Separators. On page 3 , under "Installation instructions, #3", you will see "do not use tapes on NPT threads".
