  • ***HELP! Identify year of 115 decals missing ***

I believe it's around a 96-99 yamaha 115 but the trim bracket decal is gone an the circle sticker on block is gone, already confirmed with yamaha they don't cast numbers in the block.
    So....
I have some pics of the motor an just pulled the carbs off an found cast numbers on the carbs. Hopefully with these pics it can be determined as I need to order parts.

Yamaha 115 precision blend 2 stroke.

    Thanks

Look at the CDI and see what markings you can find.

      What country are you in?

Any markings. Something like 6N7 and then maybe a number or two.

It is going to be difficult, if not impossible, to pinpoint the exact year of manufacture and thus the model identity.

I would suspect that most any 115TLR(X) parts will work.

The 6E5 prefix on the carburetor tells us it's a carburetor for a 115 HP Yamaha.

You can go to the Yamaha website and look at the part numbers used on the 1996 through 1999 115 Yamahas ( and earlier and later models as well) and see for yourself if and when the part numbers differ for the same type of part. I doubt that they will change much.

My research I just found tells me that Hitachi cdi is used on motors 1990-1996. I typed in that number an other used cdi''s popped up for those year motors.

CDI part number 6N7-85540-00-00 was used on 115's and 130's from 1990 through 1996:

                    6N7-85540-00-00 YAMAHA C.D.I. UNIT ASSY

It was replaced by a -01-00 that was used on 115's from 1997 through 2006:

                    6N7-85540-01-00 YAMAHA CDI UNIT ASSY

                    The -01-00 replaced the -00-00.

So far have it narrowed down to be between a 1990-96 but I sent a pic to yamaha of the float bowl gasket to determine a close range as there is 3 different carb kits used between 1990-1996 alone, some have same components but different gaskets

Thinking about getting a Sharpie and writing all pertinent info on the inside of my cowling. I expect this engine to last a long time. I can't fire a chip into the engine as I can with my dog.

Not a bad idea. Or write it in the owner's manual where they provide a place for doing so.

There was talking many years ago of embedding a chip some where on a Yamaha motor.

The decals don't just fall off. It is a red flag to me if and when someone has a motor with no identification left on it. One decal coming loose, maybe. Three or four just falling off, I am not buying it.

I agree with two missing decals being improbable. Now if my son inherits my boat at some point, I would certainly expect him to lose the manual. Along with two sets of car keys, phones, sunglasses, shoes, several wallets.....

Agreed. Also, highly unlikely the ID plate just falls off after years of engine use. They are pried off for a particular reason...such as theft. Just sayn.
