  • F100 charging

    Here we go again...

I donīt know why but my 2004 F100 (carbed) is "eating" a new battery every 2 years.
The type of batteries I'm using are lead/acid (not a cheap/chinese battery)
What happen was that about 2 years ago battery was not charging.
I thought it was R/R so I changed it by a spare I had and didnīt even tested the R/R and on 1st 2 hours of operation was all OK but after that very low changing back again with the 2nd R/R and almost no charging as before with original R/R (just up 13.4v max as before was 14.6v or so at "normal" operation)

Removed that used battery from the F100 and test it on my F40 and guess what... Is running fine, chaging fine, no issues. its the battery I'm using on the F40 so far.

Last week bought a new battery for the F100 and voltage raised up 17.2v!!! and the voltage indicator/numbers started blinking after 16.8v or so... Something I've never seen before as I never had such high current.

I'm concern about may burn the R/R which is a common issue on this model and consecutively the CDI.

I have this spare parts but I donīt want to take the risk.

I may have to test the R/R but must be OK as while was not charging the "old" battery that is fine on the F40 is now overcharging the new battery and charging OK on 1st 2h of previous battery however if it was a battery issue it should not work on the F40.
