So went to check my oil today and as soon as I pulled my dipstick I had a nice white mess coming out.
Talked to a tech at local shop and he said my thermostat was more than likely stuck open causing condensation to occur in the engine oil. Thermostat was not stuck open, but i flushed the system anyway. After putting the thermostat back in place, after a good cleaning, i flushed the system again and found that some water was getting around the thermostat. Is that common when the thermostat is closed for some water to get around it???
I ordered a new thermostat tonight, but was wondering if there could be a bigger problem. I was also wondering if i could test to see if i had a cracked head by hooking up the flush hose and pull the oil drain plug, after already draining all of the oil, to see if there would be any water coming out?
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on what the problem could be. I'm hoping its the thermostat, but I'm at a little of a loss beyond that.
Let me hear your ideas.
