Hypothetically, if you were to keep a boat powered by a 2 stroke Yamaha 90HP moored, would you be able to flush the engine via muffs with the motor trimmed up?
I guess it would depend if tilting it would allow the carbs to "flood" if it allows the oil system to still pick up oil, in theory, a 2 stroke can run at almost any orientation, as long as the carbs are still OK, and in oil injection models, the oil can still be supplied to the pump.
Maybe just tilt it up, slide the muffs on, turn on the water hose, tilt motor back down and flush away.....motor don't care where the cooling water is coming from....
I agree with Robert. Put the muffs on, then lower the OB. If your hose supplies enough flow that there's excess water squirting past the muffs (when the leg is out of the water), then the same should hold true for when it's in the water. Meaning no salt should leak in if fresh is leaking out. At a bare minimum, it will mostly all fresh going in.

As suggested above, when sufficient raise engine with engine and water still running for say 15 seconds then cut motor. Allow some water to continue to flow then direct your disconnected hose into the prop hub - as water will stagnate here in the tilted position.
