Maybe someone can help me. I have a 1992 25hp MLHQ that was stored in a barn for around 10 years while work kept me from having any fun. I brought it to an authorized yamaha dealer for a tune up and check over to get it up and running again. The dealer says it has a bad cdi box because some mice got in it and chewed up some wires. Apparently that part (#6L2-85540-10-00) is no longer made and is called obsolete. Is there a replacement for this part? Does anyone know where I might find it? MY dealer is looking and I did a search of the internet and could not find it available. I did find this forum though. Has this part been replaced with a different technology? Is there some aftermarket fix? This motor has very few hours on it and I don't want to abandon it.

Is there a stub left for the chewed wires? If so I would be cutting splicing. All that is needed is about half of a butt connectors length to splice onto.

Thanks to you guys I found two possible sources for the cdi. One new one at Sims, and one used one at Ebay I gave the info to my Yamaha service dealer and he was going to check them out. Stand by, I will let you know what happens. Thanks all for your replies.
