    No power to motor or trim

    Need some help!

    I have a year 2000 Saltwater Series 150HP

    I hadn't had the boat out in a while and my battery was weak. It had enough juice to lift and lower the motor but didn't have enough to turn the motor over when I tried to start it. I pulled the battery out and charged it. Now that I put the battery back in I am not getting any power to the motor or trim. I am getting power to everything else (lights, aux switches, etc.) The battery is reading 12.6 volts on a volt meter. I don't even hear a click from a relay or anything. Is there a main fuse or something that I should look for? If so, where is it located? I tried to look for one on the motor but didn't see it.

    A fuse on the motor provides battery power to the key switch and to the trim switches. Check the fuse.

    Need the complete model of your motor to be sure but see this owner's manual shows where the fuse might be located. Page 4-17

        You might want to get that battery fully charged (the slower the better), then Load Tested at any auto parts store, etc just to make sure its good.

        Sounds like it may be toast as its still a bit below 100% charged...

          Any other suggestions on what might be the issue? I located the fuse on the motor and it is good.

            Check all you battery connections to the engine including the grounds.

            Don't just look at them but remove, inspect, clean etc. Just looking doesn't count.

            After that, start following your main battery cables from the battery.
            12 volts at the battery, follow the lines till you loose 12 volts.


            Also, if you have a battery switch, pull it off and check conditions of the switch (contacts) to make sure voltage is going out of the the switch...

              Are you sure you hooked the battery back up with the correct polarity?

              If all you did was remove ,charge , and reinstall the battery, look for something that you did to cause this
