  • 2002 Yamaha 115 4 stroke

    Hello everyone, I'm new here..
I bought a used Yamaha 115 4 stroke engine, but it does not get spark
I have some what experience on 2 stroke engines but never messed with a 4 stroke..
To start I disconnected the control harness that comes from the key.
I have a tool I hook up to the starter and I make the motor turn..
At least I know that's how a 2 stroke would start... THen I simply grounded White, or yellow black..

Unlike some two strokes, the F115 needs the yellow wire to have 12 volts applied to it. Electrical power is needed to close a relay so that power is applied to the fuel pump, the injectors and the coils.

If you then jumper the starter motor relay to crank the motor it should start and run.

The white wire is grounded to stop the motor from running.

      Thanks

Thank you so much,,,, I can't wait till the morning...
I bought 2 Yamahas and one 115 Mercury, The auction said all motors are the same.. ONe needs crank bearings, the other one needs valve seatings and this one its electrical..
All for 950 Dollars, Hope I can get them going..
      Again, Many many Thanks...

        like Boscoe said.
that motor uses a 12V TCI ign system.
shares NO testing like a CDI system of old.
for a NO spark condition either the ECU failed,no voltage to the ign coils/ecu or loss of BOTH pulser coils.
        the system uses waste spark.
        means 1&4 and 2&3 fire together .
anytime one of the pair fires so did the other.
