The digital tach goes haywire at times, reading a number of partially digital numbers, multiple arrows pointing to oil or temp. Sometimes it's fixed by a light tap on the screen, sometimes not. No alarms sound, that's important to note and remember when responding. Usually 10-15min into running engine it reads normal. I've unplugged the wire harnesses, plugged back in, no remedy. My amateur opinion would think it's a ground wire that is shorting.
What I'd like to learn is how I go about finding out the tach's model number. Then I'll be able to find an original owners manual. The manual probably has a troubleshooting section. The original owner didn't have the engines trim hooked up to the gauge either, so the manual would be helpful indeed. Picture of the tach is below.
