2002 8 hp 4 stroke won't stay running.

Motor ran fine last year. I ran motor out of gas at end of season. This year it starts on first pull but only runs a few seconds and quits.
Any sugestions. I convetred it from remote tank to "Tee" into fuel line. Would that cause this?
Previous boat owner had his this way without any problem.

The carb is probably plugged up with varnish. Remove and clean carb with Sea Foam or carb cleaning solution.
