I have a Yamaha F225 2003 that after run it at 4500 RPM for 15 minutes and LOWERED IT TO 1200 rpm the alarm begins to sound . If I stop and restart and run at 4500 it didn't sound until I run under 1200 RPM I scan it and the code is 23 (ATS) but the send is good . What can I do?

If the sensor is good then check the wiring to and from the sensor.
The air temperature sensor will have nothing to do with an alarm. The alarm is set by either low oil pressure or engine over temperature. With respect to engine over temperature either a thermoswitch closing or the engine temperature sensor indicating a high value will set the over temperature alarm.
Is the motor used in salt water? Has the mid-section exhaust components ever been changed? One symptom of defective parts is an over temperature alarm at no engine RPM's. -
check that the ATS is in fact plugged in.
sometimes it gets left unplugged after service.
that motor wont store an overheat count.
it will store an oil pressure count.
if you have the Yamaha digital tach there is an overheat visual indicate as well as an oil pressure indicate.Comment
