New to the forum. Looks like a great site for the Diyer! I have a 30 ELHY. I recently removed and cleaned the three carbs. Upon removal I noticed the fuel/airscrew on the middle carb was turned out 1 1/4 turns while the top and bottom carb were turned out 1/2 + 1/4. Is this normal? Engine is hard to start when cold. New plugs and runs great when warmed up. Fuel pump looked good no leaks or tears in the gasket. Thanks

I believe that about 1-1/4 turns out from slightly seated is considered about normal for those idle mixture screws, so a couple of yours may need to be opened up a bit....now wheather or not that will help the starting I can't say, but it might help some. Try modifying your starting procedure a bit to improve it....
Always pump the bulb once or twice to be sure float chambers are full, primestart(if so equipped) should be in the normal position.....my C90 likes me to crank for 2 or 3 seconds, let off on it, and then crank again and she'll fire right up!.... Just a little peculiarity there...sorta like with the boss-lady!

Sounds like someone has been jacking with those screws, but it would be best to look in the service manual for that motor to see what the settings should be.
Make sure you follow the link and sync procedure in service manual any time you reinstall the carbs.
