  • Yamaha P95a

So I recently bought an old Yamaha P95a from the early 70s.
When i went to see it we first had some trouble starting it, the owner said that it had been sitting for quite a while and thats why it was hard to start.
But eventually we got it going. It seemed to start pretty easily after that.
but today after it had been sitting for only a day, I could not get it to start, i took some starter fluid and sprayde directly into the plughole (I know this is a big no-no but i just had to see if there were any life) and i started and ran for half a second.
So kept pulling and pulling the cord, but it would not start, checked the plug and that was bone dry.
Eventually i started after a lot of pulling and i giving it full throttle and all of the choke. it is still a pain to start when cold and one thing i noticed is that it takes a lot of time to rev up when given full throttle from idle.

he is asking for a starting procedure. Is that not obvious?

Was not obvious to me. Went right over my head.

I looked for the question mark symbol. Still don't see one.

It read like a story that my wife will give me from time to time. I dare not respond. It is a no win situation.

          Sorry, forgot the actual question!
Since it seems it it not getting fuel, could there be a problem with the carb?
Or could it be that my starting procedure is wrong?

Check to make sure choke is closing as it should, check the compression, check fuel pump, clean the carb, set as manual calls for and check the timing
